EI-OT ESP-01+ ESP8266 INA226 5-18V Sensor I2C Adresses
EI-OT 5-18V Stromsensor Modul I2C Adresse

EI-OT 5-18V Current Sensor Module I2C Address
The EI-OT INA226 5-18V module allows the targeted addressing of the I2C address of the INA226 Sensor. Using targeted I2C addressing, any I2C address overlaps in connection with other I2C based sensors can be avoided. It should be mentioned at this point, even if no other I2C sensor is used, I2C addressing must be done. Addressing is done by assigning HIGH or LOW levels to the address pins
  • A0
  • A1
by using a solder bridge. The following I2C addressing is possible (0x40 recommended)
  • 0x40 A0 connected to GND A1 connected to GND
  • 0x41 A0 connected to VCC A1 connected to GND
  • 0x44 A0 connected to GND A1 connected to VCC
  • 0x45 A0 connected to VCC A1 connected to VCC
Finally, it should be mentioned that the Tasmota configuration of the INA226 sensor varies depending on the addressing.

EI-OT ESP-01+ ESP8266 INA226 5-18V Module connection
EI-OT 5-18V Stromsensor Modul anschliessen

EI-OT 5-18V Current Sensor Module connecting
The operating principle of the current measurement of the EI-OT INA226 5-18V module is very simple. Basically, the EI-OT current sensor module is looped in between the voltage supply and electrical receivers, in simple words the supply voltage is routed via the shunt resistor and the respective connected devices. The central voltage supply is provided by the INA226 current sensor module via the screw terminal / connection VIN+. The respective electrical receivers/devices are supplied with voltage via the VIN- terminal. The required GND, both the power supply and the GND for the electrical receivers, is via the GND terminal. Finally, it should be mentioned that since the INA226 also has a V-bus connection, the bus voltage must also be set using a jumper.
Tasmota WLan WiFi Konfiguration in 5 Schritten
Tasmota WLan Konfiguration

Tasmota Client Anbindung mittels Webinterface

Tasmota WiFi Configuration

The Tasmota firmware allows simple WiFi configuration thru Browser web interface. At this point it should be mentioned that the Tasmota firmware only supports SoftAP mode (access point) for WiFi configuration. As soon as a Tasmota module has been integrated as a WiFi client in an existing network, SoftAP mode is disabled.

Tasmota WiFi Client Setup
After Tasmota module has been supplied with voltage, the module starts as Tasmota SoftAP. Within network environment of
  • Computer
  • Mobile phone
  • Tablet
a new Tasmota SoftAP / Access Point appears. The WiFi configuration using the Tasmota web interface in 5 simple steps:
  1. Establish a WiFi connection via system settings / network settings to the Tasmota Soft AP, appears as tasmota-??????-???? access point. The Tasmota SoftAP has no security settings, so no password is required.
  2. After a WiFi connection has been established, the Tasmota web interface usually opens within the specified standard browser. Alternatively, the Tasmota web interface can be accessed by accessing the url http://192.168.4.1 within a web browser. Tasmota independently runs a network scan and outputs the list of available networks. If the desired network is not listed click on Scan for all WiFi Networks so that a network scan is carried out again.
  3. Select the respective WiFi network (click), Tasmota will then add the respective network to the WiFi Network text field. Now add the network password to the required parameters and click on the Save button.
  4. The Tasmota module starts independently and tries to establish a connection to the previously defined network (duration approx. 20-30 seconds).
  5. If the connection has been established successfully, the message Successful WiFi Connection appears as well as the IP address of the Tasmota Module assigned by the router using DHCP.
    1. Important: the Tasmota module can now only be reached via this IP address.
    2. Please make sure the WiFi connection to  your client is in the same network as the Tasmota module. If necessary, connect to the corresponding WiFi network, otherwise no redirect can proceeded.
  6. The Tasmota module can now be reached as a WiFi client thru the IP address previously issued (under 5.).
Behebung etwaiger Probleme

Troubleshooting

In case of IP address was lost it can usually be found in the router's web interface under Network or WiFi.

In case of WiFi / network parameters are incorrect, e.g. an incorrect SSID Name or password, the connection will be rejected by the router. Accordingly, the Tasmota module must be reset using a factory default reset as follows
  • Supply the module with power 6 times for 1-2 seconds. On seventh time, leave the power supply on. The Tasmota module then starts independently in SoftAP mode so that the configuration can be carried out again as described above. Please note that with plug-in power supplies, the voltage supply often remains for several seconds, i.e. the breaks between the renewed voltage supply should be a few seconds (5-10 seconds).

  6. After the successful reboot, the EI-OT INA226 Current Sensor web interface appears (still without INA226 values)
Tasmota INA226 Stromsensor Skalierung
INA226 Skalierung

INA226 Skalierung

The INA226 current sensor module is available in different versions / performance ranges. Depending on the version and performance, the respective scaling must be configured using the Tasmota console as follows:

  1. click on Tools in the Tasmota web interface
  2. in the Tasmota Tools menu click on Console
  3. hhe Tasmota Console has a window for outputting status messages also a command line for entering specific Tasmota commands
  4. Based on the respective version 2A 5A 10A or 16A and the I2C address of the INA226 Sensor, the text / Tasmota command must now be entered into the command line.  The respective command based on version and I2C address is stored here in the table (see below), just copy the respective command and paste it into the Tasmota command line. To execute the Tasmota command, you must then press the ENTER key.
  5. the INA226 scaling is then set within the Tasmota firmware, a reboot is carried out and the current measured values of the INA226 sensor are output in the console window.
  6. if you switch to the main menu, the current, voltage and power values are now displayed in the Tasmota web interface
