About the Stamp:
This issue is composed by seven postage stamps following the same visual identity: the face of each scientist framed by the “Venus mirror”, icon that symbolises the female gender. Their names are highlighted, arranged in different planes between the other graphic elements, overlapping each other, as if each seal was a small poster. Boosting feminine strength in spaces before occupied by men, the background is composed by a reticu le also inspired by the woman symbol. At last, to represent part of the achievements of each scientists, images relative to their works were used.
1) In the Bertha Lutz postage stamp, the main color is orange and there are illustrations of two amphibians inspired by the cover of Brazilian Species of Hyla, of her autorship. The techniques used were graphite illustration, vector illustration and digital painting.
2) In the Carolina Bori postage stamp, the main color id purple and the symbol of psychology, the Greek letter Psi is in the center between two icons of the human mind, sometimes troubled, sometimes balanced. he techniques used were graphite illustration, vector illustration and digital painting.
3) For the Enedina Alves Marques postage stamp, the main color is blue and there is a river map of the Capivari Cachoeira Reservoir, the reservoir project and a simplified diagram of a hydroelectric power. The techniques used were graphite illustration, vector illustration and digital painting.
4) In the Graziela Barroso postage stamp, the main color is green, there are illustrations of botanical elements, objects of her research, among them the Dorstenia grazielae species. The techniques used were graphite illustration, vector illustration and digital painting.
5) In the Marcia Barbosa postage stamp, the main color id blue, with elements as the water molecule and the schemes and formulas of her scientific publications. The techniques used were graphite illustration, vector illustration and digital painting.
6) In the Maria Deane postage stamp the main color is yellow, there is illustrations of the “kissing bug”, transmitter of the protozoa Trypanosoma cruzi and Plasmodium, causing Leishmaniasis. The techniques used were graphite illustration, vector illustration and digital painting.
