This is an art collection of the Japanese painter Akira Yamaguchi. Over the course of 20 years, the artist has maintained a unique painting style that blends classicism with contemporary insolence, earning high praise both domestically and internationally. His vast canvases are infused with the unwavering power of narrative, and those who view them are invited on a journey that transcends time and space. In these works, one encounters a chimera of a motorcycle and a mounted knight, a samurai drinking tea, and a war god with both male and female characteristics staring at the viewer with a look of disdain. While the works are homages to traditional painting and 1970s manga, they are also rich in esprit and humor. Beneath the graphical expressions lies a satire of globalization and progress, likely reflecting the very history of Japan.
