Hand-crafted Southwestern Gourd and Pine Needle Folk Art by Betty Baumgartner, 1996

A Southwestern design with repeating v-shaped patterns and pyramids enclosing black or gold leaf-like symbols, with superimposed spirals overlaid atop those images, this intricately painted hollowed gourd by artist Betty Baumgartner measures 6.25” high and 7” wide. At its top is a braided pine-needle rim. It’s in very good vintage shape, particularly considering its canvas, and is signed by the artist. Note: The gourd reflects a radiance to which photos cannot do justice.
