This is a Stunning and Desirable piece of Vintage 1970's Gold and Gemstone Jewellery. Made in 9ct Yellow Gold it is a Ring featuring an Engraved Capital Letter M in White Gold attached through a panel of Black Onyx and with a Flared Ridge Design to the shoulders. The Ring is designed just like an Old Victorian Mourning piece though it can also be used as an Initial Ring for someone whose name starts with the Letter M. It is Fully Hallmarked as photographed on the inside of the shank with 9 and .375 for the Gold Purity, the Anchor Mark for Birmingham Assay Office, the Date Letter E for 1979 and it has been electronically tested at a precious metal refinery to confirm the Gold Content. The Ring is also Hallmarked on the Side by the Onyx Panel with 9 and .375 for the Gold Purity. It weighs 4.9g, is a UK size W or approx. a US size 11 1/4, the Onyx Panel measures 16.5mm x 11.5mm and the band measures 2mm wide to the underneath of the shank. The Ring is in a used and fairly good condition for its age with no real damage but with some surface wear. The Ring has been professionally resized at some point which is why the Maker's Mark has been removed and the shank is slightly out of shape however this will mould to a new finger. As can be seen in the last two photos there is some wear to the Gold going over the top of the Onyx in 2 of the corners which does detract slightly but is not a major problem. The box in the photo is for display purposes only and is not the one it will be posted out in.
