Black Oxide Coating
Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: Black oxide forms a protective surface layer that helps prevent rust and oxidation, increasing the lifespan of the part — especially in humid or corrosive environments.
Reduced Wear: The coating reduces friction between metal surfaces, minimising wear and tear. This is particularly beneficial for bearings that operate under constant motion and load.
Improved Durability: By creating a stable surface film, black oxide increases resistance to fatigue and mechanical damage.
Reduced Service Time: Less likely to fuse or seize within the frame or headset housing, allowing for easier removal and replacement when required.
Stainless Steel
High Chromium Content (16–18%): Chromium creates a natural protective layer, giving stainless steel excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and rust.
Corrosion Resistance in Wet Conditions: 440C stainless steel performs exceptionally well in wet or marine environments where standard steels would quickly corrode.
High Hardness: After heat treatment, 440C achieves very high hardness (Rockwell upper 50s to low 60s), improving wear resistance and longevity under heavy loads.
Reduced Service Time: Less prone to fusing to the frame or headset housing, allowing for easier bearing replacement during servicing.

Close Contact 2RS LLB Seals
Blueseal Bike Bearings™ use top-quality LLB 2RS close-contact rubber seals. The tighter the seal is to the inner bearing race, the harder it is for water and dirt to get in — and the harder it is for grease to get out.
Max. Fill Premium Grease
Standard bearings contain a small amount of basic grease (around 20%), offering limited protection against corrosion, rain, and dirt ingress.
Blueseal Bike Bearings™ contain the maximum fill of Mobil waterproof grease possible, without compromising the function of close-contact rubber seals.
ABEC 3 as Standard
Most non-bike-specific bearings are ABEC 1. Blueseal Bike Bearings™ are ABEC 3 rated, running smoother and lasting longer.
