How it works
The solar powered light comes on at night and acts as a major annoyance to geese who like to hang out on your property at night.  The light does not impact people or pets but irritates geese and makes them anxious so they no longer feel secure and cannot rest on your property at night.  This forces them to seek their rest in other areas.  If they have to move far enough away, they will also tend to avoid your place during the day as it requires energy to move back and forth.   The light alone will not get rid of geese during the daylight but since they sleep close to where they eat, you will be able to make them move to another location to feed that is closer to their new sleeping area.

The amber-colored light flashes every two seconds, all night and all year. The light reaches 100 yards away in all directions.  It turns off during the daylight hours and the battery recharges via the sun.

Unfortunately, it will not. Our units are designed to work with geese that are on/near your property at night. They are solar powered and turn off and charge during the day and then flash throughout the evening night (from dusk to dawn). We recommend that you observe the geese to see if they are around at night, or even in the dusk and dawn hours. If the geese are only there during the day, then our product is not the one for you.


When do I put my units out? Do I need to bring them in for the winter?

The product will provide continuous service year-round. The materials that we use in the construction of the product will hold up well against ice and snow, so you can keep the product outside year-round. The light automatically recharges itself in sunlight and will keep its charge for up to 6 days without sunlight.

While not necessary, some may choose to bring the units in for the winter, especially in northern regions where geese migrate to the south. If removed, be sure to turn off the unit while storing inside for the winter. Continue protecting the water by turning the unit back on when returning the unit outside in the very early spring. The unit will deter geese that are present and also prevent geese from settling.


I have geese that have recently had goslings. Will the mother and goslings be deterred?

Mother geese will not forsake their goslings under any circumstances. However, after thirteen weeks the goslings are weaned of their mother and capable of flight. At this point, Away With Geese will deter both the mother and the developed goslings. Our 90-day trial period of our Satisfaction Guarantee is designed to allow for enough time for the goslings to develop and for the geese to subsequently leave. 


I installed my units but they don’t seem to be working. Can you help me troubleshoot?

We are changing the patterned behaviors of animals, some of which are more established and ingrained than others. The units are achieving this change by altering the environment so that it is no longer comfortable for the geese. Sometimes this change happens right away, but it can take longer. This is the reasoning for the 90-day trial period that is built into our Satisfaction Guarantee.

Using the product for 90 days, with our assistance, will take care of your problem geese. If it doesn’t, simply return it for a refund of the purchase price, minus the $25.00 price of shipping that is included in the purchase price (shipping included on U.S. orders only). We do require that you try the product for at least 90 days and that you return it within 180 days of the original purchase date.
  • The 90-day Trial Period
The 90-day trial period allows time for the natural reasons, such as raising goslings and molting, that will prevent geese from leaving. For example, geese will not forsake their goslings and will stay with them until they are able to take fight (about 90 days after birth). The Away With Geese unit works best when placed before you have eggs or goslings present, or just after the goslings take flight. Also, geese will not leave when molting. Molting is an opportunity for geese to replace their worn, frayed, or lost feathers with new ones. The molt takes 30 to 45 days and is completed by mid-July.
  • Before You Return A Unit
Before you return the unit, we ask that you call us to discuss the positioning of it, as this factor is critical for success. We will help you determine the optimum placement of your unit and make adjustments as necessary. Every property and pond is different; we can help you eliminate your property’s blind spots and provide advice about certain areas such as those with steep banks, docks, and trees. If you have tried your unit(s) for 90-180 days, and are still within that window, and are not satisfied, fill out a Return and Exchange Form and we will contact you with instructions on how to send the unit back and get your full refund minus shipping.
  • Parts Warranty
All Away With Geese products carry a two-year parts warranty. We will replace any part – including the light assembly – that may go bad, for up to two years after the initial purchase, provided that the product was used as directed and not physically damaged or vandalized.
