Worked absolutely perfect on my ?73 Briggs 13hp. Just flipped it around (cyl side OUT) or it won?t spark due to magnet polarity on flywheel. Absolutely simple to install and fired right up. WAY Cheaper to convert it to electronic than buy breaker points coil and condenser. Plus No headaches messing with points. Wouldn?t hesitate to do this to every cast iron engine i get again. Runs perfect now! Thanks (by the way, i?ve heard you can contact brigg?s and send them your fly wheel at your cost $$ and they?ll re-polarize the magnets for you. Then you won?t need to go through the agony of flipping the mag around. Or just flip the mag around.)

I tried this on an older engine that had points and it work great! Engine runs like new. Points were failing on engine but I was not able to remove flywheel to replace points so I tried this coil that did not require points and it worked just fine. I just cut the wire coming from the points. The kill switch wire coming out of the new coil was taped off as this engine had a spark plug kill switch on top of the engine.

Replaced my burned out coil that worked with points to this electrical style magneto. All the YouTube videos and even other comments on this thread stated to mount backwards when converting from points, but this did not work for me! For whatever reason, mounting the way the mfg stated (this side out as pictured) was the only way I could get spark! Just a PSA that if you install it one way and get no spark, flip it around and try it the other direction!

Bought this to replace a older coil from 15+ years ago on a wood chipper (8 hp). The cable was longer than needed but a wire tie fixed that. Engine started right up and ran great. It replaced the old coil without any problems. I Recommend this coil, it worked well for me.

I don't know if I've ever bought anything on Amazon that wasn't made in China LOL. But the coil did bolt right on to my Briggs and Stratton 15 horsepower model 28q777. Only reason I didn't give it five stars is we'll see how long it lasts. This is definitely Chinese and was marked made in China on the box
