Rowland Hill (1919–1979) Irish Antrim Rathlin Island Coastal View Oil on Canvas
Up for sale is vintage c.1960's original oil on canvas painting by Irish artist Rowland Hill (1919–1979). This incredibly atmospheric coastal view landscape is very well executed employing a sophisticated knowledge of light, colour and perspective. It is titled "Rathlin Island, White Park Bay, Co. Antrim".
The painting itself is measuring about 20” (51 cm) by 28” (71 cm), and the frame is about 27” (69 cm) by 35” (89 cm).
It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner.
This painting would be a very sound investment and a great addition to any collection. Rowland Hill (1919–1979) Painter and draughtsman, born in Belfast. Went to work at 14, but wishing to become an artist Hill studied in the evenings at Belfast Technical College and at Belfast College of Art, where his teachers included Fred Allen. At the age of 16 he had three oils hung at the annual exhibition of the Ulster Academy of Arts. He later showed at RHA, in London and widely overseas and held many one-man exhibitions in Belfast. Lived in Jordanstown, County Antrim.
