Injection-moulded from ABS plastic — the same family of materials used in LEGO bricks. ABS does not warp, holds its shape over time, and bonds reliably with superglue (cyanoacrylate) and two-part epoxy. The textured top surface grips PVA, texture paste, and basing sand without needing to score or rough up the surface first. Takes all spray and brush-on primers cleanly.

Every mould in the OBS range is designed in-house using industry-standard CAD — these are not generic imports. We control the full production chain from design through to quality control. Mould lines are clean and consistent.

At 60×40mm this base has enough surface area for scenic work while still fitting ranked formations. The 4mm total height and 1.3mm floor keep the profile stable under heavier monstrous cavalry and chariot kits. 2.7mm of underside clearance comfortably fits 3×2mm or 5×2mm disc magnets — use two or three spread along the length for a balanced hold in transport.

60×40mm rectangle is used for monstrous cavalry, chariots, and large mounted characters across fantasy and historical mass-battle wargaming. Correct for organised and competitive play in systems that specify a 60×40mm rectangular footprint.

Wash before priming — a quick rinse in warm soapy water removes mould release residue. Dry completely before spraying.

Monstrous cavalry and chariot kits often have small contact points for their weight. Drill through the contact point and pin with 0.8mm brass rod into the base, then reinforce with two-part epoxy. For multi-part chariot assemblies, pin the chassis to the base first and build upward.

2.7mm underside clearance fits 3×2mm or 5×2mm disc magnets comfortably. Use two or three spread along the length of the base for a balanced hold — important for heavier kits that can shift in transport. CA gel, check polarity before it sets.

24 cm² of playing surface — enough for meaningful scenic work. Build up terrain with cork or bark to add elevation and visual interest. Plan the composition around the model's pose so the base and miniature tell a story together. Keep the bevel edge clean for formation alignment.

Keep texture and scenic material off the bevel edges — clean edges mean tight formation ranks with no gaps. A uniform rim colour across the unit ties it together visually on the table.
