What is Polysilazane Ceramic Car Coating?

SUPERMAXX Polysilazane Ceramic Car Coating Spray is a Professional Grade Polysilazane silicon-based polymer containing alternating silicon and nitrogen atoms. When used on most surfaces, Polysilazane converts into Super Ceramics, such as Si₃N₄, SiON, SiCN, SiCNO, or SiC. Polysilazanes are used as Super Ceramic Coatings on Automotive, Marine, RV, and Aviation surfaces, offering long-term benefits and protecting and maintaining the new surface look.

Durability tests for Supermaxx Ceramic Coatings

1. Pencil hardness test

• This test, also known as the Wolff-Wilborn test, is a standard method to measure the hardness and scratch resistance of coatings.
• It involves using a set of pencils with varying hardness levels (from soft 6B to hard 9H and even 10H) to scratch the coated surface.
• The hardest pencil that doesn't leave a permanent scratch on the coating determines its hardness rating.
• Supermaxx ceramic coatings claim to achieve 9H hardness for their baseline coatings and 10H hardness for their 2K Hybrid/Graphene variants when multi-layered.
• While 9H is the traditional maximum on the pencil hardness scale, some manufacturers and labs have adopted 10H pencils (like the Mitsubishi Hi-Uni 10H) for testing coatings that exceed the 9H standard.
• According to SuperMaxx, this test is useful for developmental work and production control, but results can vary between labs due to differences in pencils and techniques. 

2. Chemical resistance

• Supermaxx ceramic coatings are tested for their resistance to various chemicals and contaminants.
• Tests conducted include JIS K5400 for alkali, acids, and salt.
• This test determines the coating's resistance to heavy exposure from chemicals like sodium carbonate, sulfuric acid, and sodium chloride.

• The coatings are also designed to repel contaminants like dirt, oils, grease, road tar, acid rain, and bird droppings. 

3. Other durability considerations

• Claims of longevity, ranging from several years to even a decade for some coatings, are often based on these combined factors and user experiences rather than solely on laboratory tests.
• Other tests, like abrasion resistance, impact resistance, adhesion, oxidation resistance, gloss retention, and UV resistance, are also used to evaluate the overall performance and durability of ceramic coatings.
