This has a Mohagany-stained piano lacquered surface with brass handle and adornment on the front of the box. No key but it latches very well and opens with a little pull. It is a solid wood box, pretty heavy for its size. There were a few minor dings that I was able to cover up and polish. The interior of the lid was missing so I added fabric to match the original interior fabric. Enough room for about 12 rings and good-sized compartments for anything else. The shelf does have a couple of dings that you cannot see unless you lift it up. The piano hinge seems to have bent a little at some time, so it looks slightly off only when you open the box. Even then it isn't very noticeable.
