This classic combination of jade and pearls was originally a brooch, probably made in the 1960's, but Eytan thought it would be more interesting as a pendant.
The 15 cultured akoya pearls making up the circle are creamy white with good luster.
The little jade buds or leaves rise from gold wire stems and range from about 5mm to 8.3mm long for a total estimated jade weight of around 2.4 carats. We used a thermal conductivity test to determine the stones are jadeite, not nephrite.
The back, where the original pin hardware was, has been completely cleaned up and a fixed oval bale in recycled 14 karat gold added at the top.
The pendant comes with an 18" two-strand necklace of chrysoprase in a range of natural green shades that nicely match the jade, and the bead faceting adds a subtle bit of sparkle. The beads are tiny -- just 2.2mm. The closure is a 14/20 gold-filled pearl clasp. This necklace was designed by us, specifically for this pendant, but assembled by a professional stringer on mustard-colored silk thread. Note that the chain slips through the pendant easily so you can mix and match.
The pendant is 41mm long (including the bale) and 35mm wide. That's a little over 1-½" tall and a little under 1-½" wide.
The total weight of the pendant (not including the chain) is 9.6 grams. With the chain, the total weight of this necklace is 15.2 grams.
The edge of the pendant's round gold frame is stamped "14k" but there is no maker's mark. The clasp is stamped "14/20."
All parts of the chain are new. The pendant is, as mentioned above, probably around 60 years old but is in excellent condition.
