Appraisal:
Appears to be early Austrian skis, possibly owned by one of the many Englishman/couples that ventured the Austrian and Swiss Alps in the post/pre war 1920s/30s developing the first snow tourism etc
hence english "PETE & JO"
Each ski also embodies a medical reference/phrase in French. ... To have English names with French phrasing is typical English humour. I would assume if french they would be French stylised names as well.
Q?: Initially I thought these skis could be related to 'Peter Lunn', but would have been a young boy/teen. Maybe people that connected with the Lunn family, (as Peter and his father Sir Arnold, famously had provoked British Ski first as a sport/then tourism in Austria at this time) that expressed their english excentricity/progessive medical thoughts through the marking of their skis? Were they a Doctor, advertising the communal benefits of their profession???
L'amour du medicin
guerit le malade
Translates:
literal
Love of medicine - heals the sick
or
Love of a doctor
heals the sick
pos
(a) Doctors love heals the sick
>>great collectable for a progressive medical surgery to display, particularly if you have skiing, sport or art interest ... or serious for the collector of British connection to early Ski tourism...etc
