Steps to replacing a Turbocharger:
- Step 1: Change the oil and associated filtration systems--replace the oil feed pipe, the oil filter and the engine oil.
- Step 2: Clear out engine--immobilise the engine and then turn the engine over until around about half a pint of oil is pumped out of the turbo oil feed pipe.
- Step 3: Remove the old turbocharger--remove the bolts that connect the exhaust downpipe and unscrew the air intake, and then loosen the main bolts, finally take the turbocharger off the car.
- Step 4: Install the new turbocharger--connect the main bolts to the exhaust manifold, before screwing the air intake into place, and finally reconnecting the exhaust downpipe.
- Step 5: Connection--connect the oil pipe to the turbocharger.
- Step 6: Final checks--start the car and make sure there are no leaks from any part of the turbocharger, and no visible exhaust fumes coming from the exhaust manifold or downpipe.
