5 Screw black plastic back plate control cavity cover for Gibson Explorers made between 1984-1988, (and some '83's). Explorers made during this period had the control knob layout in a triangular shape instead of the traditional in-line style (see comparison photo.) This backplate is the same one Gibson used on SG's from that era, and won't fit Explorers with the traditional in-line knob placement.

We have these cut in .090 thick gloss black plastic, and screws are included as always.

Please note: All new pickguards, back plates and truss rod covers are returnable UNTIL you peel off the plastic. Please be certain of fit BEFORE you do any peeling.

International Customers:

All international shipping charges are non-refundable.

Due to the extremely high cost of shipping internationally, and the even more extreme cost of RETURN shipping, we reserve the right to cancel international orders. We promise to do our best to communicate with you to make sure you get the correct guard for your guitar, but if we don't receive responses to our communication attempts, we may cancel the order. We've simply had enough people not read the descriptions or assume that a pickguard will fit their instrument without using any due diligence whatsoever--then expect us to pay for return shipping--that it's literally killing us. We won't do it anymore. If you find a pickguard that you think will fit your guitar, contact us and include the make, model and year of your guitar for verification BEFORE you order. If we don't hear from you or you don't respond to us we reserve the right to cancel the order.
