LeRoy Neiman Limited Edition Promotional Post Card – BADEN BADEN 1987
I was a contract art dealer for LeRoy Neiman back in the 1980’s and every time he released a new serigraph, which was about once a month, we would receive a large number of promotional post cards showing the new image. When these were gone they never printed again. BADEN BADEN 1987 The
serigraph of BADEN BADEN 1987 today sells for $7,500.
This post card however sells for much less! IT IS IN EXCELLENT MINT CONDITION I was fortunate to be a friend of LeRoy Neiman and whenever I was in NYC I stopped by his studio to see him. One day in 1987 I stopped by and he had just finished the oil painting "Baden Baden" and asked me what I thought of it. I said "fantastic as usual" which it is. He pointed out some of the people in the picture. He often puts celebrities and friends in his pictures. He pointed out the man on the left side of the gaming table in glasses as his friend Armand Hammer, and next to him with the large mustache is LeRoy Neiman himself. The man in the lower right side of the picture with his arm on the back of the chair is Murray Liebovitz who owned Hammer Galleries in NY, the publisher of Neiman's works, and next to him, the woman standing in the green dress, is LeRoy's wife Janet. Also throughout the crowd is Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall, Truman Capote & Shelley Winters. He always had fun with his paintings! May he rest in peace. Serigraphs were made off of the oil painting, and then promotional Post Cards were made which is offered here. It is 7 1/4 inches wide and 6 inches high. |
