This is a January, 1930 of the uncommon pulp magazine Scientific Detective Monthly, published by Techni-Craft Publishing and edited by Hugo Gernsback.  It was an early effort to cross mystery and detective stories with science fiction (and science fantasy), with the title changed to Amazing Detective Tales after issue 5.  This is issue #1 of the short-lived but prominent title.
