Vintage/antique book.  THE LUCKY BOY: GLUCK, or KING OF THE GOLDEN RIVER    by John Ruskin

John Ruskin was an early environmentalist and philosopher.  He wrote this captivating children's book that reflects his views. "The Lucky Boy:Gluck, or The King of the Golden River" is a delightful fairy tale told with all Ruskin's charm of style, his appreciation of mountain scenery, and his usual insistence upon drawing a moral. It was originally published in the 1850's.

This edition is a soft cover die cut book, shaped like the face of a boy, published in 1929, and this is a first edition. The book and its beautiful cover are really in exceptional shape, given their age.  See pictures.

The illustrations by G.A. Davis are fabulous, especially the cover. This is a children's environmental classic.

I have seen this die cut edition sold elsewhere for $150.  It is really an exceptional book.
