The Black Prince:
In the year 1350, the death of King Alfonso of Castille, during the Black Plague, left two factions struggling for the crown. Alfonso's legitimate heir, Pedro III (called "Pedro the Cruel") was opposed by the king's mistress, Lenor de Guzman, and the five sons she bore Alfonso. Pedro murdered Lenor, triggering a rebellion by her eldest son, Enrique Trastama. After several years of bitter civil war, Pedro won, via murder and treachery, the support of the Iberian Holy Orders, giving him control of the only well trained troops in Spain. To further his goals, Pedro allied himself with King Edward of England, and ultimately recieved the support of Prince Edward - the Black Prince. Prince Edward was a daring and canny warrior and eventually succeeded in restoring Pedro to the throne of Castille. Black Prince is an exciting simulation of this power struggle, played on a hexagonal grid which regulates movement. Simple probability charts reveal the outcome of various game functions.
