The Big Break

In The Big Break, the first volume of Julie's classic stories, tells how Julie finds her place in 1970s San Francisco.  Julie Albright is dealing with big changes since her parents' divorce.  When she finds out that her new school has a basketball team, life starts looking up--until the coach says girls aren't allowed to play.  Julie decides to fight for a place on the team, and almost loses her best friend in the process.  Meanwhile, a school project forces her to face some hard truths about her family--and herself.  As the holidays arrive, Julie begins to realize that changes can be both good and bad, and sometimes the best way to cope is to make a few changes of her own.  

Soaring High

Soaring High, the second volume of Julie's classic stories, tells how Julie uses her passion and creativity to fight for what's right.  Julie has learned that it takes just one person to make a difference--and now's her chance to prove it.  First she must find a way to help a rescue center raise money to save a family of injured bald eagles.  Then she has a chance to make history when misfortune strikes the Bicentennial wagon train.  And when helping a friend at school lands both Julie and her friend in detention, she sets out to change the system by running for student body president.
