Roy Rogers stars as a renowned rodeo legend assigned by the government to look into a rash of
warehouse bombings during World War II. As part of the clandestine operation, Roy penetrates the Merry
Makers, a traveling tent show whose fake mind reader, Maurice, is also head of the gang of saboteurs. But
when Roy attempts to expose the malevolent man, Maurice catches him in the act of gathering evidence
and ties the cowboy up in a warehouse about to be blown to smithereens. Luckily, Roy escapes but finds
himself in hot water once again when Maurice murders a man, and frames Rogers for the dirty deed. Soon
Roy is jailed, and it becomes a race against time to stop the terrorists before they can bomb a supply train
loaded with goods needed for the war.

Tired of the thieving orchestrated by rodeo operator Jim Calvert, Roy Rogers leaves the rodeo and
enters the ranching industry. Rogers is successful at his new endeavor but soon finds himself at the
aid of his washed-up rodeo pal Sam, who has deceptively told his daughter that he is a rich,
successful ranch owner. And when she sends word that she is coming to visit her father's supposed
ranch in the west, Sam is caught in a bind until Roy agrees to allow his friend to pose as the ranch's
owner. A disgruntled Calvert, who schemes to reveal the truth to Sam's daughter, threatens the
harmless plan.

Dorothy Bryant (Dale Evans) is an actress in Chicago whose show is brought to a halt when there
is a lack of funds to keep it running. But soon she learns she has inherited a ranch in Utah, which
she plans to sell in order to get her show going again. So, Dorothy and her show mates, the
Melody Maids, head out west to find a buyer for the ranch. But when they arrive, Dorothy is duped
into believing that what she owns is a run-down, non-functioning ranch that adjoins her true
property. She is fleeced by ranch hand Roy Rogers whose intentions are to merely prevent
Dorothy from getting rid of the profitable ranch. Things get complicated when Ben Bowman, a
cattle dealer who is interested in acquiring the ranch for himself, discovers Rogers' scheme and
uses it to his advantage. And while Roy is off-dutifully getting Dorothy's real ranch ready for her
arrival-Bowman craftily offers a bamboozled Dorothy a low-ball bid for her ranch.

the boy helps Rogers trick the abductors, his true colors are revealed.
