Con il DB1, ProAc è riuscita a ottenere, in un diffusore di piccole dimensioni, un suono normalmente associato a diffusori più grandi, in particolare per quanto riguarda la risposta dei bassi.
Il cabinet del DB1 è realizzato in MDF ad alta densità di diversi spessori e ulteriormente smorzato da bitume per controllarne la risonanza. È stato utilizzato un woofer a lunga escursione di nuova concezione, con condotto posteriore. Il cono è realizzato in polpa di cellulosa e mica, successivamente rivestito con un rivestimento elastico e dotato del nostro smorzatore di fase ProAc in acrilico.
Il crossover è stato progettato per offrire una risposta più piatta ad alti livelli e il tweeter è il ProAc a cupola in seta da 1 pollice, simile a quello utilizzato in altri modelli ProAc Response.
Le frequenze medie e alte del DB1 sono superbe e, nella tradizione ProAc, con bassa colorazione e alto dettaglio. Il woofer offre una qualità dei bassi meravigliosa, incisiva ed estesa, simile a quella che si ottiene in un cabinet più grande. Anche la scena sonora risultante è paragonabile a quella di un diffusore di grandi dimensioni.
I piccoli altoparlanti tipo mini monitor, come i DB1, sono diventati molto popolari tra coloro che desiderano un suono di alta qualità con un impatto visivo minimo.
With the DB1, ProAc has achieved in a small speaker, a sound normally associated with a larger speaker, particularly the bass response.
The DB1 cabinet is made from different thicknesses of high density MDF and further damped by bitumen to control cabinet resonance. A newly designed long throw bass driver was used and ported at the rear. The cone is made from pulp and mica which is then elastic coated and fitted with our ProAc acrylic pole damping phase plug.
The crossover was designed to give a flatter response at high levels and the tweeter is the ProAc 1-inch silk dome similar to that used in other ProAc Response models.
The midrange and high frequencies of the DB1 are superb and in the ProAc tradition, low in colouration and high in detail. The bass driver gives a wonderful bass quality, punchy and extended, similar to that which is experienced in a larger enclosure. The resulting sound stage is also comparable to that of a larger speaker.
