The lethal invention of the Mars for the benefit of the Imperium and the prosecution of the Great Crusade.
Called Tactical Dreadnought Plate the Cataphractii Terminator armor was the equal parts protection for the wearer and death for the opponent.
Dark Angels 1st Legion gave their entire Deathwing this armor, Roboute's entire bodyguard wears this armor,
while the Salamanders incorporated flamers, missile launchers and a whole host of weapons never thought
possible to be wielded by a single marine in Mark I, II, or III armor.
This armor is still used in 40K in some legions as Relic Terminator Squads.

Heretic Astartes CATAPHRACTII TERMINATORS
When the forces of Horus betrayed the empire and bent their will to the Primordial Annihilators they did so after they received the Cataphractii Armor
Many Chaos legions still use this armor to the day, Death Guard Blightlords are all in Cataphractii Terminator armor
With the powers of the warp corrupting the purpose of the Heretic Astartes the armor they wear is adorn with
scriptures in the Word Bearers, Flayed enemies in the Night Lords and Gallons of Blood in the World Eaters
