Military KEARFOTT Co. Radio Bearing Indicator Compass Type AN/ARN-6 USN USA

I grew up watching Military movies where aircraft traveling over water say ( I have a strong  Hawaii radio station signal ) This instrument just a part of the

navigation system was used  LONG BEFORE  GPS . This Radio compass manufactured 66 years ago  OCT 11 1955 was in a Government Aircraft.

Aircraft traveling over the HUMP sometimes were guided by Japans false radio signals causing aircraft to crash into mountains.  Earhart lost radio signals

Put out by ships,,,,,,, so you see this instrument has history.

A great piece of Aviation History . Today aircraft are set by GPS and actually fly themselves , Pilots take over to land , Some aircraft have no need fr pilots at all.

This was used when Flying required navigators to locate landing fields and airports .

The last photo for info only shows what this Instrument is used as part of the complete system . That bulge Football looking item on top/ bottom of aircraft is the antenna . NOT INCLUDED .
