This listing is for a Heavy Duty Deep Transmission Pan with 1.5 - 2 Quarts Extra Capacity for the GM 6L50, 6L50E Transmission, in a Cast Aluminum finish. This extra capacity heavy duty transmission oil pan fits GM 6 speed hydramatic 6L50, 6L50E transmissions, found in Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks with the 6L50 transmission. A magnetic drain plug and all mounting bolts are included with the pan. This pan has been designed for:

+ Cooling - extra capacity(1.5 - 2 quarts above stock), fins, and aluminum construction for reported temperature drops of 10 to 35 degrees
+ Clearance - medium height maintains clearance
+ Drain Plug - on the side for safety
+ Secure Seal - machined flat gasket flange for a leak free seal
+ Strength - high quality aluminum, thick walls to add strength to the transmission housing
+ Fins on bottom of pan for additional clearance
+ Designed to work with the stock filter and the stock reusable gasket

This pan has been installed on 6L50E Transmissions in 2015 and newer Canyon and Colorado trucks. This pan was designed for trucks and SUVs with plenty of ground clearance such as:

+ 2015 and 2016 Chevrolet Colorado gas engine
+ 2015 and 2016 GMC Canyon gas engine
+ 2015 to 2019 Chevrolet Colorado 2.8 Diesel
+ 2015 to 2019 GMC Canyon 2.8 Diesel
+ And one 2010 Camaro 3.6L so far

International trucks and SUVs, such as 2012 and newer Trailblazer, Holden Colorado and Colorado 7, may also be able to use this pan.

Configurations vary so always check your vehicle. Suspension Leveling Kits can change the angle of the transmission and pan, which can change how the level check hole functions and affect the amount of fluid.

Verify which transmission you have and look for ground clearance and interference from frame cross members or exhaust components. Pan dimensions can be found below in our Technical Information section.

Technical Information

The above photo shows the interior of the 6L50E Deep Pan.This PML transmission pan works with the stock filter, because filter supports are cast into the bottom of the pan. These hold the filter at the same location as the stock pan so no filter extension is needed.The fluid level and pick-up remain the same with a PML pan as with the stock pan.

On the 6L50 transmissions we have seen, the fill is a plugged hole in the main casing, on the passenger/right side. Vehicles do not have a dipstick or fill in the engine compartment, the fluid level check hole is on the pan. Checking the fluid level is ambiguous, no matter if you have the stock pan or this PML pan. We recommend measuring the stock pan fluid level and amount of drained fluid before installing this deep pan.

Check your owners or service manual for the procedure for your vehicle. The PML level check hole is at the same location relative to the transmission as on the stock pan.

The Stock pan does not have a drain plug, so changing the transmission fluid and filter is a messy procedure. This deep pan has a drain hole on the driver side. A magnetic drain plug is included with the pan.

There is a boss on the passenger side that can be machined for use with aftermarket sensors and gauges. If you would like us to machine and tap a boss for you there is an extra $65.00 charge. Contact us before ordering to arrange payment for the machining charge. The boss can accommodate from 1/8 to 1/2 NPT. The boss can also be used as an alternate drain plug location.

Warranty Information

PML products carry a lifetime limited manufacturer's warranty. Our products have proven to be trouble free since we began making them in 2000. If the pan or cover you receive is determined to have some kind of manufacturing defect (i.e., machining problem, leak due to porosity in pan wall), PML will replace the part.

If you sell your vehicle with our part installed, we will honor the warranty with the new owner.

If you run a cover or pan into a boulder and it cracks or is damaged, well, there's nothing PML can help you with there.

Modifying our products voids the warranty.

Our products are designed to fit factory original equipment. However, in some applications, or because of the use of certain factory options and/or after market equipment, there may be clearance or fitment problems between our products and your vehicle components. PML provides dimensions and pictures so you can check your vehicle before ordering.

It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner and installer to install the part correctly and to ensure that there is no contact between the PML part and other moving or fixed vehicle components.
