🔧 Material & Build

Injection-moulded from ABS plastic — the same family of materials used in LEGO bricks. ABS does not warp, holds its shape over time, and bonds reliably with superglue (cyanoacrylate) and two-part epoxy. The textured top surface grips PVA, texture paste, and basing sand without needing to score or rough up the surface first. Takes all spray and brush-on primers cleanly.

Every mould in the OBS range is designed in-house using industry-standard CAD — these are not generic imports. We control the full production chain from design through to quality control. Mould lines are clean and consistent.

At 3.8mm total height with a 1mm floor, these bases carry more material than many competing 28mm bases on the market. The extra thickness adds stability on the tabletop and gives you 2.8mm of clearance underneath — comfortably fits 3x2mm disc magnets with room to spare for magnetic storage and movement trays.

💡 From the Workbench

PREP

Wash before priming — a quick rinse in warm soapy water removes mould release residue. Let them dry fully before spraying. This gives your primer a better bite.

BONDING

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) bonds ABS well. For metal models, score the base lightly with a hobby knife first. Two-part epoxy works too, especially for heavier pieces. The textured top grips PVA, basing paste, and sand without sliding.

MAGNETS

2.8mm underside clearance — fits 3x2mm disc magnets comfortably. Use CA gel (not liquid) so it doesn't run, and check polarity before the glue sets if you're magnetising a whole unit for tray use.
