A masterfully hand made piece by Robert Bade featuring a modernist design with a ball at the end of a pin mounted between two crossing blade like shapes. Very good vintage condition with some patina according to age which can easily be polished away if desired.

This elegant designer piece measures 1 7/8" long x 1" wide and weighs 5.6 grams. It is stamped "Sterling" and carries Otto Robert Bade's designer mark "Orb".

Very unusual mid-century piece!

About the designer:

When looking at pieces of jewelry made by Otto Robert Bade, it’s not difficult to see that they resemble pieces made by Frank Rebajes. Otto Robert Bade, born in 1921, served as the foreman for Rebajes Jewelry during the 1940s and 50s. When Frank Rebajes decided to sell his famous company and move to Spain in the late 1950s, Bade purchased Frank Rebajes’ catalog designs and machinery and started his own company under the name of Orb Originals in 1960. Bade enjoyed great success in the business until 1981 when he was robbed, pistol whipped and left in critical condition. He and his wife moved to New Hope, Pennsylvania to recover from this terrible incident. Orb Silversmiths operated from this location for many years and Otto continued to have an active part in the business until he was well into his nineties.
