🔧 Material & Build

Injection-moulded from ABS plastic — the same family of materials used in LEGO bricks. ABS does not warp, holds its shape over time, and bonds reliably with superglue (cyanoacrylate) and two-part epoxy. The textured top surface grips PVA, texture paste, and basing sand without needing to score or rough up the surface first. Takes all spray and brush-on primers cleanly.

Every mould in the OBS range is designed in-house using industry-standard CAD — these are not generic imports. We control the full production chain from design through to quality control. Mould lines are clean and consistent.

The 50×25mm rectangle keeps a low 3.9mm profile. The 1.3mm floor provides a solid platform for mounted models without unnecessary bulk, and 2.6mm of underside clearance comfortably fits 3×2mm disc magnets — use two side by side for a reliable hold during transport.

💡 From the Workbench

PREP

Wash before priming — a quick rinse in warm soapy water removes mould release residue. Dry completely before spraying.

BONDING

Superglue (CA) bonds ABS cleanly for plastic and resin cavalry kits. For heavier metal models, pin with 0.5–0.8mm brass rod through the hooves or contact points and reinforce with two-part epoxy for a permanent hold.

MAGNETS

2.6mm underside clearance fits 3×2mm disc magnets. Use two placed towards each end of the base for a balanced hold in transport — especially useful for cavalry regiments that need to come on and off movement trays quickly. CA gel, check polarity before it sets.

RANKING UP

Keep texture and scenic material off the bevel edges — clean edges mean tight formation ranks with no gaps. Batch-prime on painter's tape strips for consistency. A uniform rim colour across the regiment ties the unit together visually.
