Injection-moulded from ABS plastic — the same family of materials used in LEGO bricks. ABS does not warp, holds its shape over time, and bonds reliably with superglue (cyanoacrylate) and two-part epoxy. The textured top surface grips PVA, texture paste, and basing sand without needing to score or rough up the surface first. Takes all spray and brush-on primers cleanly.

Every mould in the OBS range is designed in-house using industry-standard CAD — these are not generic imports. We control the full production chain from design through to quality control. Mould lines are clean and consistent.

At 4.3mm total height with a 1.63mm floor, this is the thickest square base in the range — built to stay flat and rigid under heavy chariot and monster kits. The 49.1mm outer width (just under nominal) gives clean ranking in movement trays. 2.7mm of underside clearance fits 5x2mm disc magnets, and at 50mm you have room for two or three magnets spread across the base for a strong hold.

50mm square is the standard base for large monsters, chariots, war machines, and big characters in mass-battle fantasy and historical wargaming. Correct for organised and competitive play in systems that specify a 50mm square footprint.

These bases rank up edge-to-edge and fit standard 50mm square movement trays. OBS square-to-round converters are available if you need to switch between game systems.

Keep texture away from edges for clean ranking. At 50mm you have nearly 25 cm² for scenic work — build terrain details around the model while keeping the bevel edge clean for formation alignment.

Chariots and monsters at 50mm are often heavy multi-part kits. Pin every contact point — drill through the foot into the base, insert brass rod, then two-part epoxy. The 1.63mm floor gives you enough depth to drill into without going through.

Wash before priming — a quick rinse in warm soapy water removes mould release residue. Let them dry fully before spraying.

2.7mm underside clearance fits 5x2mm disc magnets. Use two or three spread across the base for a balanced hold on heavy models. CA gel, check polarity before it sets.
