🔧 Material & Build

Injection-moulded from ABS plastic — the same family of materials used in LEGO bricks. ABS does not warp, holds its shape over time, and bonds reliably with superglue (cyanoacrylate) and two-part epoxy. The textured top surface grips PVA, texture paste, and basing sand without needing to score or rough up the surface first. Takes all spray and brush-on primers cleanly.

Every mould in the OBS range is designed in-house using industry-standard CAD — these are not generic imports. We control the full production chain from design through to quality control. Mould lines are clean and consistent.

At 4mm total height with a 1.2mm floor, these bases are solid and stable under heavier models. 2.8mm of clearance underneath comfortably fits 5x2mm or 3x2mm disc magnets — plenty of room for magnetic storage, transport cases, and movement trays.

💡 From the Workbench

PREP

Wash before priming — a quick rinse in warm soapy water removes mould release residue. Let them dry fully before spraying. This gives your primer a better bite.

BONDING

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) bonds ABS well. For heavier metal or resin models at this size, consider pinning — drill a small hole through the foot and into the base, insert a short brass rod, then CA over it. Much stronger than glue alone.

MAGNETS

2.8mm underside clearance — fits 5x2mm or 3x2mm disc magnets comfortably. At 40mm there's enough floor area to place two smaller magnets side by side for a stronger hold if needed. CA gel, check polarity before it sets.
