Injection-moulded from ABS plastic — the same family of materials used in LEGO bricks. ABS does not warp, holds its shape over time, and bonds reliably with superglue (cyanoacrylate) and two-part epoxy. The textured top surface grips PVA, texture paste, and basing sand without needing to score or rough up the surface first. Takes all spray and brush-on primers cleanly.

Every mould in the OBS range is designed in-house using industry-standard CAD — these are not generic imports. We control the full production chain from design through to quality control. Mould lines are clean and consistent.

At 160mm diameter, preventing flex is the primary engineering challenge. This base has a full grid rib structure moulded into the underside — a cross-hatched pattern of reinforcing ribs that keeps the surface rigid under the heaviest models. The 1.2mm floor and 4.5mm total height keep the profile low while the ribs do the structural work. 2.6mm of underside clearance between the ribs fits 5x2mm disc magnets — plan magnet placement around the rib grid.

160mm round is the largest standard base size in modern tabletop wargaming — reserved for towering titans, gargantuan creatures, and the most imposing models in any game system. Correct for organised and competitive play in systems that specify a 160mm round footprint.

The 158mm actual outer diameter matches industry-standard 160mm nominal sizing. This is the largest round base in the OBS range.

Wash before priming — a quick rinse in warm soapy water removes mould release residue. At 160mm, let it dry completely flat to avoid water pooling. Then spray primer evenly from multiple angles.

At 160mm you're mounting the heaviest models in the hobby — often over 500g of resin and metal. Pin every contact point with 1.5mm+ brass rod and two-part epoxy. For models with small feet relative to their mass, build structural scenic elements (ruins, pillars, rock formations) and pin through those as hidden supports. The rib grid underneath gives the floor extra rigidity for this purpose.

Nearly 200 cm² — this is a diorama. Plan the entire composition before committing: mock up the model, sketch terrain zones, consider the viewing angle from across a gaming table. Build elevation with cork stacks and bark, add environmental storytelling (debris, casualties, scatter elements), and paint the base as a self-contained scene. At this scale, composition matters as much as individual detail.

2.6mm underside clearance between the ribs fits 5x2mm disc magnets. The rib grid divides the underside into cells — place one magnet per cell in a distributed pattern for even hold. Use eight or more magnets for models this heavy. Check each magnet's polarity before gluing, and use CA gel to keep them in position.
