PAIR of finely Stitched Aubusson Style Needleponit Pillows

As my mother taught me, this gorgeous, handmade feather/down filled pillow was used to grace an armchair that no one was allowed to sit on, in a room that one admired from the entryway, but rarely actually entered!  All of which attest to its excellent condition. . .no wear, no tears, no stains, no pulled stitches, no missing or damaged tasseled fringe.

It is  a generous 19x19 inches square, and features a sumptuous center flower bouquet, bracketed with luxurious finely hued vines on all four sides, all stitched in wool, with too many different colors, shades, tints  and flowers to identify.  Please refer to my pictures, as I have photographed a closeup of the center, and of each of the 4 corners.

I can tell you that this is needlework falls somewhere between needlepoint and petit point. . .numbering more than 250 stitches per square inch. The small, fine stitching allows for greater detail in the overall design as well as the ability to offer finely shaded hues and tones of color so that the pillow has both texture and dimension. 

The pillow also features the following:
  • A blend of feather and down filled inserts
  • Precisely mitered corner construction
  • Zippered closure
  • Cotton velveteen backing
  • All one piece tassel fringed border with intricate braiding and looping
