Perforated taps can have the cork removed to give you a faster flow, just use a corkscrew to remove this. (usually required to prevent sediment from flowing through).
*****Disclaimer*****
Our taps are natural, untreated wooden items.
As a natural solid wood product, a small amount of food-safe oil or lubricant should be applied before use to ensure smooth movement.
Without repeated protective treatment, untreated wooden
items exposed to water and/or weather will degrade quickly.
To expand the life span of your tap, we recommend using a
breathable wood preservative designed for outdoor use (something that repels
water but lets the wood breathe).
Best options:
- Danish
oil or linseed oil (raw, not boiled) → soaks deep into the grain,
enhances natural waterproofing
- Tung
oil (more expensive but very durable)
- Specialist
decking oils (e.g., Osmo Decking Oil, Ronseal Decking Oil) — formulated
for UV and water resistance
Avoid varnishes or paints — they trap moisture
inside and can accelerate rot.
