M&GN in Colour is a series of four booklets using, for the first time ever, only colour photographs of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway system in all its guises, including the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint between Cromer and North Walsham as well as Great Yarmouth to Lowestoft line. The photographs range from before the Second World War up to the early 1980s and show how the railway looked together with descriptions of features and equipment that made it one of the most unique in Britain.

Volume 1 takes a broad look at the M&GN but also features the east coast holiday traffic and the holidaymakers, Sutton Bridge, 'round the world' freights and the sand trains from Drayton.
