For Sale:
1 x mono Guitar Jack Socket, 1/4" / 6.35mm for all sorts of electric guitar like fender, squier, epiphone LP, yamaha guitar or bass.
Price shown includes FREE UK delivery.
Description:
What we have here is... ONE single Jack Socket for an electric guitar or bass. It comes with a nut and washer. That's all.
This is a good quality USA Switchcraft 'open chassis' type mono jack socket you get in many guitars like Fender, Gibson and PRS etc and a superior quality upgrade to those on a Squier, Yamaha, Ibanez, Epiphone or just about any guitar.
Note - it's MONO not stereo so not suitable for ACTIVE guitars and basses.
This is the jack socket where the jack socket fits onto an access plate or scratchplate.
Some guitars have the jack socket mounted on the front of the body directly through the wood, like some models of SG, so this might not be long enough for that one. Have a look at the pic of the dimensions to check first.
It's made in USA, is of good quality and we use loads of them for our in house repairs.
It takes a 6.35mm or 1/4" jack plug - the standard size of guitar lead.
It's pretty simple. Open up your guitar. If your jack socket looks like this, it probably is.
Not suitable for ACTIVE guitars and basses (anything with a battery compartment).
Fitting:
There's only two connections so it's relatively easy to fit.
In Brief:
The shorter 'side' connector which clearly is part of the centre chassis of the socket is the chassis or earth connection. The braided part of the cable connects here.
The other tag on this socket is your 'hot' connection and you solder the hot wire here.
In more details:
First off you need to establish which is your 'hot' wire and which is your 'earth'. The earth wire is usually braided but not always. If you don't have a braided wire then there's no universal colour system in place with guitars so you'll have to use your eyes to follow where the wires go. One wire will go to the body of a volume / tone pot - THAT is your earth wire. Connect that to the shorter lug of your new socket.
The other wire will go to the longer lug of the socket.
