Fluoride Filter 5 micron with Activated Alumina

Fits all 10″ x 3″ water filter housings. Usually used as the second filter in a triple filter system with sediment and carbon block filters in under-bench filter systems.

Used for: Drinking water to remove Fluoride

The ‘activated alumina’ filter cartridges utilise alumina to absorb >90% of fluoride for up to 1,900 litres. This 9 ¾” activated alumina filter cartridge is installed prior to the carbon filter for taste correction. These cartridges are definitely not cheap but provides a claimed 1,900 treated litres of water which is around 5 litres per day for 12 months.

Note: The Activated Alumina in the filter forms a chemical reaction with the fluoride and removes it from the water, essentially trapping it in the filter. But only has a certain capacity to do so. Once capacity is reached, it loses it effectiveness to absorb the fluoride. Important to replace annually or sooner.


Installation Instructions

Filter Replacement Instructions:

  • First find the Isolation Valve (Tap) below your kitchen sink which closes off water supply to the filter and CLOSE IT.
    Tip: Follow the tubing connected to the filter to where it is connected to mains water. There should be some kind of tap/isolation valve. Close it! (If you can’t find it, close off water to the building before continuing!)
  • Open your filter faucet/tap on your kitchen sink to release pressure in the water line and filter. Make sure no water is coming out of the filter faucet before continuing. You can leave this tap/faucet open as long as it can drain into the sink when the water is turned on again.
  • Give your old Everpure WFA-12 water filter a quarter turn anti-clockwise until it will go no further.
  • Pull straight down on the filter (it can be a bit tight) to remove. A bit of water will spill as you pull the filter out. Just have a tea towel or old towel handy to dry it up.
    Tip: Make sure not to touch or put pressure on any of the hoses coming out on either side of the filter head as this may lead to a leaking filter head which will have to be replaced!
  • Now remove the plastic protective cover on the new filter and reverse the previous step by inserting this filter all the way into the filter head – and give it a quarter turn clockwise to lock into place.
    Excellent – you’re just about done!
  • Now open the isolation tap under your sink slowly until fully open. You will hear the rush of water as the filter fills up. Water will start spilling from your on-bench filter faucet/tap. It may cough and splutter until all the air has been purged out of the filter and water lines.
  • Let the water run for another minute or two to flush the cartridge from carbon fines. It is usual for a bit of carbon to come out initially. This carbon is harmless.
  • Close the tap/faucet on your sink and check hoses and filter head under your sink for leaks.Now you’re ready to enjoy your purified water for another 12 months or 2,835 litres or whatever comes firs
