Hex Jam Nut
Right Hand Thread, Zinc Plated
A six sided internally threaded fastener which is only 2/3 the thickness of a full form nut. Jam nuts are tightened against the work surface and a Finished Hex Nut is tightened against the jam nut to keep it from loosening. Steel Nuts shall be made from a low carbon steel which conforms to the following chemical composition requirements: Phosphorus: .12% max, Carbon: .47% max Sulfur: .23% max. Core Hardness at Rockwell B68-C32. Larger sizes above and beyond 3/4" are also available upon request. Our Hex Jam Nuts are offered with both a Right and a Left hand thread.
