SHEPARD J. CRUMPACKER, JR. The Republican U.S. Congressman for the state of Indiana signs this 5x3 card in black ink Signature: "Shepard J. Crumpacker" in black ink. 5x3. Shepard J. Crumpacker, Jr. (1917-1986) was a U.S. Representative from Indiana who was born in South Bend, Indiana, where he attended public schools. Shepard graduated from Northwestern University in 1938 and from the University of Michigan Law School in 1941. He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced the practice of law in South Bend. He entered the United States Army Air Corps as a private on September 26, 1941 during World War II, and advanced through the ranks to flight chief in a fighter squadron. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in 1943 and assigned to heavy-bomber maintenance. He was relieved from active duty as a first lieutenant on March 1, 1946 and thereafter was a major in the United States Air Force Reserve. Shepard Crumpacker was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-second, Eighty-third and Eighty-fourth Congresses; he did not seek to stay there for a second period in 1956. He owned and operated a farm and served as delegate to Indiana State Republican conventions from 1958 through 1970. He practiced law until 1977, when he was appointed judge of the St. Joseph Superior Court and served until 1985. He lived in South Bend, Indiana until his death there on October 14, 1986. Shepard is interred in Riverview Cemetery. Toned. Tape residue on verso. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.

Return Policy: If any substantial defect not described in the item listing is found by the purchaser, the item(s) must be returned within three (3) days of receipt. Shipping: We ship via FedEx and USPS. Shipping charges for multiple orders are combined whenever possible. Due to the value of the items we sell, orders over $300 will require a signature for delivery. Please contact us in advance if this is an issue. For high-value items, this policy may also limit our ability to ship to a P.O. Box. All international shipments (destinations outside the U.S.) will be sent via FedEx.
