The original box is in A/F condition and is missing sections to the top and has substantial age-related wear, including tears along the seams, areas of surface loss, previous tape repairs, fraying, peeling and creasing throughout. Despite its condition, the original illustrated No.167 box is an important and very scarce addition to the piece.
Remarkably, the Geared Roller Bearing itself remains in good cosmetic condition considering its near 100-year age. General age-related marks, surface loss, paint chips, scratches and other signs of use/storage are present as clearly shown in the photographs.
The roller components are present as pictured, together with the small geared pinion. The mechanism has not been mechanically tested and is therefore sold as an untested vintage collectable/display piece.
One of the largest and most unusual specialist components produced by Meccano, the No.167 Geared Roller Bearing was intended for substantial Meccano constructions requiring a large rotating or swivelling platform.
A genuinely scarce piece of early Meccano engineering which is increasingly difficult to find with its original period box.
