Vintage Eshleman Red Rose Poultry Supplement Cotton Feed Sack – Farmhouse Primitive Advertising
Wonderful vintage original cotton feed/feed supplement sack featuring the highly graphic Red Rose Poultry Supplement advertising design from John W. Eshleman & Sons, established 1842.
The sack features a fantastic period chicken illustration along with the distinctive Red Rose logo and original printed nutritional analysis and ingredient information. The lower portion identifies John W. Eshleman & Sons with locations including Lancaster, PA; York, PA; Circleville, OH; Tampa, FL; Sanford, NC; and Chamblee, GA.
Measures approximately 21” x 31”.
Made of lightweight woven cotton and retains a tremendous amount of its original printing. Wonderful piece of agricultural and advertising history with great primitive farmhouse appeal. Would make an excellent textile for farmhouse, primitive, country, or Americana decor, or could be incorporated into a textile/art project.
Condition: Antique/vintage condition with substantial age-related wear. Fabric shows discoloration, staining, fading, scattered small holes/weak spots, creasing, fraying and significant edge wear. The bottom corners/edges are particularly worn and frayed, as shown. There are also areas of surface wear to the printed graphics. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.
This is being sold as found and uncleaned. I have not attempted to wash or restore the fabric, as doing so could damage the original printing and fragile cotton.
A great original survivor for the collector of vintage feed sacks, agricultural advertising, Pennsylvania history, primitive textiles, or Americana.
