This edition was published approximately seven months after the British two-volume first edition (which sells for significant sums).

Hardback in the publisher’s original dark blue cloth, with gilt spine lettering and black and gilt decorative bands to the spine and front board. Dark brown endpapers. The book is in pretty good condition, but there is a split to the cloth as shown, rubbed corners and weak hinges. There is also a bookplate on the inside front. Interior is clean and bright.
