Vintage 1970s floral knitting, sewing or craft project bag with striking retro orange and olive flower pattern and contrasting blue plastic handles.

This is a classic example of the practical yet stylish craft bags that were popular during the 1970s. The fabric features a distinctive flower-power inspired design in autumnal colours, typical of the era, while the moulded plastic frame handles are characteristic of many British and European sewing and knitting bags produced during the late 1960s and 1970s.

Research suggests that bags of this style were often sold either fully assembled or as home sewing kits, making it possible that this example was handmade or home-assembled from a commercial kit. The textured fabric resembles barkcloth-style furnishing fabric commonly used during the period.

Condition:

Very good vintage condition overall. The bag appears to have seen little, if any, use. There is some minor fraying to one edge near the opening as shown in the photographs, but this does not affect use. The lining remains clean and the plastic handles are in good order.

Included free with the bag are a vintage unused floral apron and a headscarf, making this a lovely retro sewing, knitting or display set.
