A striking vintage Louis Hudson studio pottery vase, dating from the 1970s.
Tall slab-form stoneware vase with a warm natural unglazed body, decorated with deeply impressed geometric designs around the upper section. The top has a contrasting cream glaze with brown detailing, giving the piece a wonderfully distinctive Brutalist / mid-century studio pottery appearance.
Louis Hudson established his pottery at Trethevy in Cornwall in the early 1970s and is particularly known for his sculptural slab-built and moulded stoneware forms and bold geometric decoration.
Approximate height: 18 cm / 7⅛ inches.
The base is unmarked. The vase is attributed to Louis Hudson on the basis of its characteristic form, clay, glazing and decoration.
Vintage condition with age-related surface marks as shown in the photographs. Please study the photographs as these form part of the description.
A particularly decorative example with a strong architectural design, ideal for a collection of British studio pottery, Cornish ceramics or 1970s design.
