Here we have a truly spectacular 1880s wood shipping crate for Jas. S. Kirk & Co American Family Soap (Chicago, IL, USA.) Offered as-found, as-is, completely unrestored and unrepaired 19th century advertising piece, with each side sporting a fantastic printed graphic (including one for "Awarded First Prize at World's Columbian Exposition for Purity and General Superiority as a Laundry Soap") or an original paper label. Naked wood, with no finish applied. Very clean and fresh piece, will arrive ready for display. Please see complete condition report below for important details.

We have quite a few more advertising crates as well as other types of advertising in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost when it is feasible. When purchasing multiple items, please choose "ADD TO CART" instead of "buy now" and check-out from the cart when you are completely done shopping with us. If the eBay checkout fails to properly combine your orders or, as it is very apt to do, overcharges you for combined shipping, we will issue a refund for the difference between what you paid for shipping, and the actual cost of the shipping, on the day that we ship your package. (We don't find out the actual cost of combined shipping until we purchase the shipping label.) With larger pieces such as advertising crates, there isn't always any savings to be had by combining shipping because of fees added by shipping companies for oversized boxes. We will combine when it makes sense to do so, and ship separately when it does not.

Approximate measurements: 8.25" tall x 16" long x 14.75" wide (note this one is closer to being an actual square, although it is technically a rectangle by 1.25")

Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best and are the most important part of the description--please enlarge and zoom in on them and examine them carefully. Very clean and fresh piece, definitely not a barn find. Very special find, very clean and fresh, having nothing sticky or gross, and no funky odors, with incredible, high-contrast graphics or paper label on each side. Has not been repaired or retouched in any way. Numerous flaws, way too many to list, as shown in the photos, with all of them being on the minor side, when considering age and typical found condition, including cracks, chips, warping, label loss, fading, uneven texture, etc.) Very strong and stable piece, not particularly fragile. Will display beautifully and should be able to hold some weight for stacking/display purposes but buyer will need to field test that. To preserve and protect the paper label, the collector attached a plexiglass plate to the end of the crate with the label, drilling tiny holes within the plexiglass and the crate to keep the plexiglass attached. The two bottom screws have fallen out, and we'll leave it up to the buyer whether to remove the plexiglass (super easy, just unscrew the tiny screws.) We'll send the box with the plexiglass plate attached because it will keep the paper label safe in shipping. Offered as-is, but also AND as-described.

We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
