Block E (216 square feet of ground) are for Apollo Woodward of Chesterfield
Twsp. for the sum of $20.

OF HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, TRENTON, NJ, MEMBER OF THE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE IN 1855, TAX
COLLECTOR 1865-1870, and JUSTICE OF THE PEACE, APPOINTED IN 1873. IN 1890, THE
EX-MAYOR ACCIDENTLY KILLED HIMSELF IN A FALL FROM A LADDER (IRONICALLY, TEN
YEARS EARLIER HE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN THROWN FROM HIS WAGON!).
Hamilton,
NJ, the most southerly township of Mercer County, is bounded on the north
by Trenton, Millham, and Lawrence; on the east by West Windsor and Washington
and Upper Freehold (Monmouth County); south by Chesterfield and Bordentown
(Burlington County) and Falls (Bucks County, Pa.); and west by Trenton and
Chambersburg. Hamilton was taken from the now extinct township of
Nottingham, and erected into a separate township by an act of Assembly passed
March 11, 1842.

THE CROSSWICKS CEMETERY
ASSOCIATION
The
Crosswicks Cemetery Association was originally formed 1874 -1875 by seven
certificate holders who all were local citizens. They were Enoch Middleton,
Benjamin Rogers, Charles Satterthwaite, Stacy Taylor, Joseph Hendrickson, and
George Middleton. The cemetery was incorporated under a New Jersey statute that
had been approved in March 1851 and its original By-Laws were printed in 1875.
The Crosswicks Cemetery is located at #443 Crosswicks Hamilton Square Rd. in
the area of “North” Crosswicks of Mercer County Hamilton Township New Jersey. The
environment within the cemetery is one of natural beauty. The cemetery is
situated on six acres in a rural, quiet and peaceful area. It is bordered on
three sides by preserved farmland and wooded acres. The Crosswicks Cemetery
Association met the needs of the community at the time. It operates today as it
has since its beginning serving many local families of generations past,
present and with planning to also meet future needs with the same caring
interest it has in the past.
