(Kiev Caves Lavra)

Comes with Original 1995 Gallery Invoice from Zoetmulder Ikonen (Delft).

For your consideration is a highly collectible and finely hand-painted 19th-century Russian Finift (enamel on copper) miniature icon pendant.

This exquisite piece of Orthodox devotional art features a detailed scene rich with iconographical history and comes complete with its original 1995 purchase documentation from the world-renowned gallery Zoetmulder Ikonen in Delft, Netherlands.

Iconography and Details:Central Scene: The enthroned Mother of God (Pecherskaya / Caves Monastery type) holding the Christ Child on her lap.

Side Figures: Depicts the venerable founders of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery: Saint Anthony and his disciple Saint Theodosius.

Background: Finely detailed architectural rendering of the golden-domed churches of the Pechersk Lavra.Verso

Inscription: Hand-painted Old Church Slavonic calligraphic inscription on the white enamel back reading: Obraz Pecherskoja Pr. B.D. (Image of the Pecherskaya Most Holy Mother of God)

Mounting: Beautifully set within an ornate, silver-plated filigree border mount with an attached matching suspension chain.

Historical Context: A near-identical example of this specific pilgrim icon pendant is preserved in the prestigious State Hermitage Museum collection. These miniature masterworks were historically crafted in famous enamel-painting centers such as Rostov Veliki or dedicated workshops near the Lavra for pilgrims seeking protection.

Provenance / Documentation:Includes the original handwritten purchase invoice and typescript informational document from the specialist gallery Zoetmulder Ikonen, dated October 8, 1995. Purchased for 305 Dutch Guilders. Copies of this original documentation will be shipped alongside the pendant to guarantee its provenance.

Condition Report:Front Enamel: Excellent antique condition for its age. The colors remain vibrant and the hand-painted detailing is extraordinarily crisp. There are fine, minor age-related hairline surface crazing lines (typical for 19th-century hot enamel), but the plaque remains entirely stable and intact.

Reverse Enamel: Features minor surface hairlines as shown in the close-up photos, completely stable.

Metalwork: The silver-plated frame shows a gorgeous, authentic antique patina with gentle wear consistent with its 19th-century origin.

Will be packed with utmost care in a secure box and shipped worldwide via registered, tracked, and insured mail. Don't miss the chance to add this museum-grade piece of Orthodox history to your collection!
