From Greek mythology and my real inspiration Clash of the titans (1981) comes the legendary Greek Goddess of tactical warfare, wisdom and craft. I’ve taken inspiration from many Greek and Roman marble statues, some dating back hundreds of years ago. Athena is portrayed with her owl, both have a strong bond with each other and are looking forward together. Athena features many fine details from her ornate waist armour to her draped clothing. Her hair is equally detailed with fine locks and braided sections, finished with small flowers in a crown. Bubo features individual sculpted feathers, detailed feet and claws, some of which are pressing into Athena’s hand. The bust rests on an ancient pillar and carved base showing its age with cracks all around the edges. The sculpture is finished in a satin white.
