Heavy-Duty Full-System Diagnostic
On supported vehicles, the HD301 can scan multiple electronic control systems rather than checking only generic engine codes. Available modules may include:
- Engine: Read and clear supported DTCs, view live data and freeze-frame information.
- Transmission: Retrieve supported transmission fault codes and data for troubleshooting.
- ABS / Braking: Read supported brake-system trouble codes and view available live data.
- SRS / Airbag: Retrieve and clear supported restraint-system codes after the underlying issue is repaired.
- Additional modules: May include body, chassis, instrument cluster, gateway, cruise control, fuel, suspension, battery/SCR, TPMS and other installed systems.
Available functions and systems are vehicle-dependent. Clearing a code does not repair the underlying fault, and some permanent or history codes may not clear until required drive-cycle conditions are met.

How to Select the Correct Menu
- Turn the vehicle ignition ON or start the engine.
- For a compatible heavy-duty truck, select HD OBD and press Enter or F1.
- For a compatible light-duty vehicle, select WWH-OBD and press Enter or F2.
- If communication fails, verify the vehicle protocol, connector, ignition status and selected diagnostic path.
How to Update Software
- Download the official FOXWELL update application to a compatible Windows computer.
- Connect the HD301 to the computer with the included USB cable.
- Open About / Update Mode on the scanner.
- Launch the update application and follow the on-screen instructions.
Q&A
Does the HD301 perform forced DPF regeneration?
No. This tool provides diagnostic functions such as reading/clearing supported codes and viewing data. It does not perform forced regeneration or other active service functions.
Why does the scanner show “Not Supported”?
Confirm the ignition is on, the connector is fully seated and the correct menu is selected. The vehicle must use a supported protocol, and not every control module is available on every vehicle.
Why won’t a code clear?
Repair the underlying fault first. Permanent, active or certain history codes may remain until the vehicle completes the required conditions or drive cycle.
