Original vintage Sterling TanKap vented aluminum cap from St. Louis, dating approximately to the 1910s to 1920s.

This is a particularly interesting early cap with a ribbed outer edge and vented top design. The inside diameter across the threaded opening measures approximately 2 15/16 inches.

Marked “Sterling TanKap St. Louis” on the top. Likely intended for an early automobile or similar period application, but exact fitment is unknown, so please compare the measurements and photographs carefully with your application.

Nice original condition with age related oxidation, discoloration, scratches and general wear. Threads appear intact. It has not been cleaned or polished and retains its original aged appearance.

Great early piece for an antique automobile restoration, brass era car, speedster, hot rod or vintage automotive parts collection.
